Arthroscopy is Fun

2nd PT + exercise

Went to my 2nd PT visit today 9/1.

Hamstring and calf stretches

Hamstring and quad excercises

Electrical stim 20 minutes

Visit took about 1:30 due to giant backlog of other patients.

Talked with another dude with the same surgery, but a week advanced (8/1 versus 8/10). He told me that he discontinued the meds (like me a couple days ago) due to unfavorable reactions. He said that he’s already on the stationary bike 20-30 minutes a day and doing 10 minutes of elliptical. He also mentioned that he started running in the pool a week ago to build up his quad.

I hit the gym today after PT after getting the okay to get 20-30 minutes of low impact/non weight bearing cardio from my therapist. I feel pretty out of shape and weak, even though it’s barely been a month since I was last in the gym. But then again, I was out of the gym since 4/24 thru 7/10 because of my knee injury.

Scale reading: 208.8 buck naked. That’s a far cry from the yoked up 193 I was at, and also a far cry from the 217 that I hit before I started working out again in July. Ideally, I will be able to drop about 18-25 # so that I can start running the treadmill and/or outdoors again.

Max bench back in 1/09 was 275#. I’m doing 185# 3x now, so pretty far off from peak. But then again, I’m working without a spotter, so I’m pretty scared to max out.

Lots of work ahead to get back into shape after what is basically a 5 month layoff from the gym.

auto accident on 4/24/2009 and my surgery and recovery post-accident.
